This Hope...

I've wanted a tattoo for as long as I can remember. I like them . I just do, always have. But...until about 6 months ago I was lacking inspiration. Then life happened {as life does}...I read this verse...

"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Heb. 6:19

...and I made a choice to trust. To trust the Lord with all that is dear to my heart. To choose trust instead of fear. To surrender my self proclaimed role as "the anchor" of my life.

As a wife & mother I could easily live a life filled with fear. Correction: as a wife & mother I have lived a life filled with fear. I've come to realize that  I am ok with "the worst" happening to me...but "the worst" happening to the loves of my life...Not ok. The very thought terrifies me...I feel responsible to protect them from "the worst".

Sigh...I know that I can't.

I will continue to do my best...but my best does not guarantee their imminent safety and happiness.
I am still fearful of "the worst" but now...I choose to give that fear to the Lord.
It is a choice.
And there I find peace.

And there I found the inspiration for my fabulous tattoo.

Dear Josh {hubs},
Thank you for your support in this journey. Thank you for your patience with the process. Thank you for your faithfulness to love me. Thank you for my birthday present. I love it...I love you. I love us.
